Simple DIY Car Mods

posted by Chris Valentine

If you’re like most people, then you love your car and take great pride in it. That doesn’t mean, however, that you have to accept your car exactly as it is.

You are free to change your car to make it suit your wishes. In fact, investing time into making your car the best it can be is actually a surefire sign that you value it.

And, while some customizations are best left to professionals, there are plenty of great modifications that the average car owner is capable of doing all on their own

Install Headlight Covers

Do you dislike the way that your headlights look? Maybe you want to change the color without painting, or perhaps you wish they could appear to take on a different shape.

Whatever the case may be, if you want to change your headlights, invest in some headlight covers. These covers can be custom-made or bought from any automotive accessory supplier, and they have the potential to completely transform your headlights. Plus, even if you don’t want a new look, the right headlight covers can offer added protection and security for your headlights.

This is one of the easiest car mods possible thanks to the straightforward installation process. So, no matter what your skill level, this car mod is totally doable!

Reduce Shifter to Fulcrum Distance

If you don’t mind a bit of a challenge, one car mod you can try is reducing the distance between your shifter and your fulcrum point. This small change can allow for faster shifting, which is great if you want to be able to change speeds or gears at a moment’s notice.

While there are plenty of videos and tutorials on how to do this modification on your own, you can make it even easier and more foolproof by investing in a short throw shifter kit, which will provide all the supplies you need as well as detailed instructions.

Add Interior Lighting

Want to add a little luxury to your car? The answer is to install interior LED lighting.

These lights come in a wide range of styles and even colors, allowing you to perfectly customize the style of your interior. Lights can also be a nice addition if the factory lighting just isn’t bright enough for you or if you would like to have extra light in a specific area.

Installing the lights is very easy. Just invest in high-quality LED lights and then choose your placement and install. Online tutorials can easily be found if you need any extra help along the way.

Add Fog Lights

Speaking of lighting, another great mod is to add fog lights to your vehicle.

Most cars actually have a space for fog lights in the front bumper, so you can usually just buy the lights and then install them according to the specific directions for your vehicle. If you don’t have this space, the mod can take a bit more work, but it’s still doable with the right installation kit.

As you can see, there are all kinds of awesome modifications you can make to your car, but most do require at least a little investment. Even with DIY mods, you’ll need to buy supplies and tools to help you use those supplies.

If you want to make these or other mods, but don’t have the funds, don’t worry. You could always consider a car title loan to get the money you need. And, really, what better way to invest your loan funds than right back into your car? Many of your mods could even increase the value of your car, making it even more valuable and capable of bringing in more money for you when you need it most!
