The Magic of Cannabidiol, Cannabis and the Endocannabinoid System

posted by Chris Valentine

A lot of people think badly of cannabis since it has been portrayed as a bad drug for many years. Now that it is legal, in some parts of the country anyway, grown-ups may still think that cannabis and marijuana are bad just because of its history.

Here in this article, I’m going to showcase some of the reasons why cannabis might be a good thing, and an incredible alternative known as cannabidiol, perfect for those seeking it for medical purposes.

In-Deep Talk About Cannabis

Let’s start by saying this: cannabis and marijuana are well known for getting people high. It was the main reason why it was consumed back in the day, and now that it is legal in many places around the world, using it for recreational purposes is still a very common thing. Depending strictly on the person, this may be the reason why some consumers might get addicted to it but is all down to how much control a person has.

Still, getting high brings a lot of side-effects, which can be the reason why some people would consume it, I myself included. Some people like consuming cannabis because it helps them deal with anxiety, depression, panic attacks, and stress.

I used to consume it to deal with insomnia since it helped me a great deal when it comes to having healthy sleeping routines. I always struggled with this, so it came as a much better alternative in comparison to sleeping pills.

But there’s still a lot about it that most people don’t know how our body reacts to it, and why. There’s something known as the endocannabinoid system, which can be described as a system primarily composed of neurotransmitters. Although research on the matter is still at its young age, there’s something we can say about it: it might be deeply linked to several cognitive and physical functions of the body. You can find a full report here for more detailed info on it.

And guess what? Cannabis can directly affect our endocannabinoid system. Some great examples include the feeling of enhanced senses, dry mouth, red eyes, feeling drowsy or loosened depending on the consumed product, and even finding more things funny.

Still, there are some good side-effects, too! A good example is how marijuana and cannabis-related products are used to relieve pain and reduce inflammation! It can also reduce epileptic seizures and help a great deal when it comes to anxiety, depression, and insomnia, as I previously mentioned.

But there’s something else that has arisen in the world of medicinal cannabis: Cannabidiol.

CBD as an Alternative.

Cannabidiol, also known as CBD, is pretty similar to cannabis when it comes to its benefit, but the main reason people use it because of how it is crafted, and the fact that it does not get people (or animals) high.

This is because CBD is derived from the hemp plant, a variation of cannabis that contains way too less THC, the compound that provides the plant with its psychoactive effects.

Of course, this makes it a safer option for the general public wanting to benefit from the health advantages of the compound. In fact, thanks to how safe it is, you can find products for pets such as dogs and cats.

Just so you know, most animals don’t take THC as well as we do, because their endocannabinoid systems are much larger and complex than ours, and the compound can actually overwhelm them.

Yes, there are some differences between CBD and actual cannabis, but when it comes to health benefits, there are not as many differences. Here’s more information in case you are interested: https://www.webmd.com/pain-management/cbd-thc-difference#1.

Now, when it comes to side-effects (if you decide to use a CBD-product for health purposes), in comparison to more traditional drugs, cannabidiol is much safer and more harmless. Thing is: it all depends on how much you consume throughout the day. That is why people start with small doses or straight up to get themselves products that are much easier to manage, such as cookies, or dog or cat treats, in case you were thinking of using it for a pet.

Most of the time, though, people get themselves CBD oil, and they manage it depending on the side-effects they feel. If you get overly drowsy, diarrhea, or dizziness, you’ll know that the dosage is too high for you, and you must act accordingly.
